weekend whirlwind

These pics are from this past weekend.  We had our ring dunk in the backyard with all of the girls and our parents. It was hands down one of my favorite weekends in college. I loved every second that I spent with my family and roommates! It was definitely a weekend for reflection and thankfulness.  Here are a few of the pictures from the backyard cookout and ring dunk.  Did I also mention that I won! Yep, it was a proud moment for my parents. ha

Life would be so much duller without you.

Today one of my favorite people on this earth turns 22.  We have been friends since the 7th grade [back when I had big hair and she had big bangs].  So today officially marks 10 years of birthdays together.  And I realized as I was posting this that Mindy is the only person in my life that has been right there for everything, our paths have been perfectly aligned since junior high. We have seen each other change in every way imaginable since we were 13.  I have even had the opportunity to surprise her in Spain! Which was a top ten moment for sure.

I love you friend.  You are such a blessing in my life.

it is a great day. my professor just cancelled all friday classes for the remainder of the semester, not to mention it is my only class on friday. 

What's in a name?

As I was leaving my house this morning for school, I heard several goodbyes from my roommates that were each followed by a different name. We have been known to be a nickname household, I think it is just part of freshman year at Texas A&M. Everyone loses their first name and then goes by their first initial followed by their last name or a shortened version of their last name.  It is strange and often results in unflattering names.  So in the spirit of procrastination, here are my beloved and always affectionate names.

I have a slight obsession with Gwyneth Paltrow.  I basically would like to be her [minus the whole Kabballah thing].  She has great style, cute kids, and she is married to the lead singer of Coldplay! When I saw Coldplay this past summer, part of the reason I woke up at 4 am was to hopefully see Gwyenth as well.  It did not happen. All of this is besides the point, Gwyneth has a new blog/website and it is pretty cool.  You can find this little website here.

cherry blossoms

The farm in Nacogdoches is officially in full bloom! It is BEAUTIFUL right now.  I honestly could not believe the cherry blossom trees [I am only used to pine trees... hello east texas].  I wanted to bring one back with me to Ayrshire but it didn't happen.  I love my hometown!

I like to consider myself somewhat fashion savvy especially when it comes to those random rules that just exist.  In the southern states, the most popular is definitely "No White Before Easter and After Labor Day."  I have always abided by this rule without truly knowing its purpose... until today.  White is considered PURE & HOLY and worn on Easter to symbolize Jesus dying on the cross and rising three days later.  I was pretty excited when I discovered this today.  May you have a blessed Easter Sunday and marvel in his unfailing grace.
